Upgrade Your Cane Sugar

rapaduraYes, I do recommend eliminating processed sugar from your diet as much as possible.  With that said, I also understand it’s not so easy from an emotional level and for convenience sake.  I also respect that we are all at different stages on our journey to improved well being.  Finding stepping stones to eating better, rather than making impossible leaps can be the answer to your success in improving your diet.

Upgrading your sugar and sweetner choices is a perfect stepping stone.  Instead of buying and eating refined white sugar, or even “raw” sugar — which are void of any nutritional value, Rapadura-Process-Techniqueschoose sugars that are minimally processed and may have some redeeming qualities.  For those who prefer cane sugar, I always point them towards Rapadura.

Rapadura is the pure juice extracted from the sugar cane (using a press), which is then evaporated over low heats, and then seive ground to produce a grainy sugar. It has not been cooked at high heats, and spun to change it into crystals; and the molasses has not been separated from the sugar.  Nor has it been bleached.  This means that the natural minerals and vitamins are retained.
