To give your morning or workout an energy boost and buzz, try making a Yerba Mate smoothie! This is also a great alternative to those super duper sweet frappes served in coffee shops, and way easy to make. Plus, Yerba Mate has less caffeine than coffee, and may even help with balancing insulin levels. And unlike coffee, yerba mate is not acid forming, so it is less likely to cause stomach acid and jitters (this is true for me!).
- 1/2 cup cold-brewed yerba mate (made the night before)
- 1 – 2 peeled, frozen bananas
- A splash of almond milk, rice milk, or walnut milk
- tsp pure vanilla extract
- ice (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth, adding more liquid if needed, just remembering that the less liquid, the more frappe-ish. Serve immediately.
