Cutting back on sugar means more than avoiding the word “sugar” and more than just eliminating desserts. Hidden and added sugars can be found in bread, canned foods, salad dressing, and even chicken stock and mayonnaise.
I’m not saying don’t ever eat the stuff (although we can go there if you want) – I indulge occasionally – but for heaven’s sake, do you really need sugar in every meal?!!!??? Save it for the special occasions and rare treats. Your body will be so much happier, and so will you – believe me.
It is possible to avoid sugar – as long as you stay aware. Be sure to scan the ingredient list of a food label. If you see any of the following terms listed below, then sugar has been added to the product in one form or another:
Brown rice syrup**
Cane juice crystals
Corn syrup solids
Dehydrated cane juice
Evaporated cane juice
Fruit fructose (hfcs)
Fruit juice concentrate**
Glucose fructose (hfcs)
Glucose syrup (hfcs)
Grape juice concentrate**
High fructose corn syrup (hfcs)
